Castle Donington – Personal Project
Originally challenged by a steep slope and awkward changes in level, this garden was originally transformed back in 2018, with the help of Jo from Garden Smith, into a series of inviting terraces. I have continued to experiment with the designs and have since created new spaces and planting areas. The new layout creates distinct spaces for relaxing, entertaining and enjoying the garden throughout the day, while generous planting beds and carefully positioned terracotta containers are filled with colourful, pollinator-friendly perennials, ornamental grasses and self-seeding favourites, providing interest across the seasons.
As my own garden, this project continues to evolve, giving me the opportunity to experiment with planting combinations and observe how they mature over time. The knowledge gained through this ongoing process continually informs my approach to designing gardens for clients, helping me create planting schemes that are not only beautiful, but resilient, naturalistic and full of seasonal interest.
