Planting Plan

Planting stages
01
Understanding the Space
Before I put a planting plan together, I look carefully at the garden layout, soil, sunlight, drainage, and the overall style of the design. This helps me choose plants that will not only look good but also thrive in the conditions available. I also consider how much maintenance you want, the colours and atmosphere you like, and how the planting will work through the seasons.
02
Planting Design
I create a planting scheme that complements the layout and helps soften and complete the space. This usually includes mood boards, planting ideas, and a detailed planting plan showing the varieties, quantities, and positioning of the plants. The aim is to create a garden that feels beautiful and well considered from the outset, while also giving it the best chance to develop well over time.
03
Sourcing and Quotation
When you’re happy with the planting design and would like to move forward, I can source the plants and prepare a detailed quote for supply, delivery, and planting. This gives you flexibility, as you can go ahead with planting when the timing and budget feel right for you. Plants are only ordered once the quotation has been approved and the invoice has been paid.
04
Planting and Finishing Touches
Once everything is in place, the plants are carefully set out and planted in line with the agreed design. This is the stage where the garden really begins to come together and feel alive. After planting, I’ll make sure everything is positioned properly and give guidance on aftercare to help the garden settle in well.
Aftercare Guidance
A newly planted garden always needs a little extra care to help it settle in well, so I’ll provide straightforward aftercare guidance once planting is complete. This will cover the basics such as watering, mulching, and looking after your plants in those early stages, giving them the best chance to establish and thrive in their new home

The Planting Process
We’ve all been there—you visit the garden centre, fall in love with the colourful displays, and come home with a car full of beautiful plants that look amazing for a week, then struggle or fade away! A planting scheme is much more than simply choosing plants that look nice together. Good planting brings a garden to life, adding structure, colour, texture, and seasonal interest, while also making sure the plants are right for the conditions and for how you want to use the space. My role is to take the guesswork out of plant choice and create a scheme that feels cohesive, balanced, and suited to your garden—so you get plants that thrive, not just survive.
